Introduction to AYSO Extra
The AYSO Region 16 Extra program is for more advanced players ages 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 looking for more competitive play and increased training. AYSO Extra will do this while retaining core AYSO values, including minimum playing time (Everyone Plays!) and a strong focus on player development.
- Extra teams will be coached by highly qualified AYSO volunteer coaches.
- Teams will receive training from professional trainers.
- Teams will train twice a week and will play one or two games each weekend against similar teams mostly from AYSO Area 1D, 1F, & 1P.
- Half the games will be in Torrance, the other half on other teams' home fields.
Starting with our All-American Turkey Tournament, and throughout the winter and spring, Extra teams will be eligible to play in AYSO and Club tournaments.
Anyone can try out and trying out is free. However, all players participating in tryouts that are selected to play on an Extra Team must be registered in our Region 16 for the 2021-22 season. Tryouts will take place beginning in April. Participation in our Extra Program will be by invitation and will be sent following the completion of tryouts. Payment of fees will be due after your invitation acceptance.
The fee for the 2022 Fall Extra League Season is comprised of four components:
- The regular 2022 season registration fee.
- Players uniforms - 2 sets (Home & Away)
- Field usage / Field permits
- Membership in the Section 1 West AYSO Extra League
